Fair | From: rliegh Used: < 6 months Comments: I used this in 95 when I was exploring programming. I liked having a standalone 'end product'; but I didn't like how the language was a strange cross between GW&Q basic. I wound up getting a used copy of Power Basic and stopped using this. I feel sentimental about Asic, though, as it was the first language (implementation?) that I compiled a program under. |
Very Good | From: TronDoc Used: 2 to 4 years Comments: I've used ASIC for a few years. Although it has some serious limitations, I've found that I still use it for quick hacks. Dave Visti wrote it. I was in contact with him a couple of years ago, but I haven't heard from him since. He's a decent guy. Joe B. |
Good | From: Nick Used: < 6 months Comments: It's pretty good. Not too powerful or easy-to-use, but good for the beginning DOS/BASIC programmer. It's VERY easy to write lib's for it, is the best thing. |
Fair | From: Eric S Used: 6 months to 2 years Comments: Great in some aspects, horrible in others. Forces good programming style and simple logic so it is the best first language anyone can use. However you will outgrow it or highlight it's limitations in a short time. Get FirstBasic then :-) |
Very Good | From: Kenneth Green Used: 2 to 4 years Comments: ASIC started me off in compiling programming. All I needed to know is some BASIC and I made super mini applications and games. Check them out at http://skyscraper.fortunecity.com/rsi/336/minisoft/ |
